"A Wisconsin state lawmaker endorsed by Paul Ryan has come under criticism for suggesting that “some girls rape easy""

"Ryan endorsed Rivard on August 9, just two days before he was selected to be Mitt Romney’s running mate. “Roger needs to be reaffirmed to get this job done and fix the State of Wisconsin,” Ryan said"

Eh. The comment was extraordinarily poorly put, but looking at the context of the conversation and what he was trying to actually say, I have a hard time getting too upset about it.
Despite the spin, he doesn't appear to say his father was advocating rape or trying to say girls were easy to rape, or anything of the sort. He was saying his father warned him to be careful about the choices of having consensual sex with girls his age at the time, and possible consequences of such choices. Extremely poor (and insensitive) wording, and there are unfortunate contexts & implications in the comments even as they were meant, but it hardly strikes me as the inflammatory statement it's made out to be when abbreviated and posted out of context.
My $.02 anyway.

My $.02 anyway. It puts the allegation of rape into that "easy" category of dismissal it seems to me. Reinforcing the whole "dressing too provocatively", "legitimate" versus "easy" if you will, sort of conversation. So women who allege rape are probably just having second thoughts after the fact?
There are other ways to caution someone about casual sex. Denigrating an entire gender as not being trustworthy isn't one of them.

You're getting into the parts I thought from the start were quite bad implications in what he said. I agree with you, although I think you overstate the case quite dramatically there.
I think it's worth talking about, but not in the way it was taken out of the context in the headline. That did more to water down the story as just a case of intentional political mudslinging than to point out any real injustice in the statements as they were meant.
T'was my main point there. Don't read things into it that I didn't say.

This isnt much different than the recent photo taken by the associated press of a little girl who happened to be looking downward in the direction of Romney while smiling, and they posted the picture trying to make Romney out to be some wierdo child molester while probably destroying the little girl's reputation is her school!
Just an example of how far the MSM will go! No different than when MSNBC host Ed Schultz got caught intentionally editing a video to make Perry look like a racist, then claimed on air that Perry was racist! Then he got BUSTED and suspended for a while!
