Nice to see that Old Miss has progressed so much since the 60s. :(

And right after ESPN runs "The Ghosts Of Ole Miss" concerning the integration of the school and the undefeated '62 team. Good viewing.

This was more than a few, and the university is going to suffer the consequences, IMO.

It's Mississippi, this is hardly even news. I'm sure they had their bible in one hand, white sheet in the other all the while.

What a great research project to follow-up on as many as possible protesters like these, the people who post over-the-top tweets like recently seen on Facebook, and similar haters and learn about their religious beliefs and practices.

I wonder how that would turn out.

It's a pretty simple minded crowd. The thinking stops with "God is great and Obama is evil." The problem is that it is a pretty large crowd and they are not limited to Mississippi.

"loser"?

So you mean Republican losers took their anger from losing on their own candidate?

Notice how Billbab skips over the racist part.

Notice that instead of condemning the acts Billbab tries to play "your side did it
too"(well no. Our side didn't do it to)

And, when the "few idiot trouble makers" make their appearance, you can always be sure that there's a much larger underlying supporting cast of cultural enablers.

That's the way social structure works. These "few trouble makers" don't just "materialize out of nothing". There is always a "supporting culture".

Ole Miss has a quaint tradition of "panty raids" and other "disorderly" gatherings of heavily drinking "riots" of partying students. It is not surprising that the elections would be cause for one of these spur of the moment street parties. Any good excuse for a party or a good time is the Ole Miss tradition.

And it would not be surprising to see some students burning Obama/Biden signs. Mississippians, especially at Ole Miss, are VERY political animals. Right now they are mostly Republican.

I spent some time at Ole Miss and still have fond memories of the frequent spur of the moment unplanned protests and panty raids that would pop up on nice evenings when everyone was bored and ready to let off a little steam. Ole Miss students work hard and they play hard. Any excuse for a party we'd say. A loud and disorderly party just outside the dorm could happen on any nice evening.

So I think that this whole thing is just some newspeople trying to make another  fun night at Ole Miss into something sinister. What a shame!

Like I tell so many folks in "Red" states these days: If you have a problem with the Federal Government a good place to start would be to declare you will never again take more $ per capita from the federal Treasury than you put in per capita.
Unfortunately all to many folks in those hypocrises haven't been able to handle the truth since Lincoln.

To a drunken college student it all seems like good clean fun, except they don't call it a panty raid, if the girls are still wearing them.   :p

That's true!

A good Ole Miss panty raid meant a walk and stagger to a predominately girl's dorm with a whole bunch of other loud and partying students. This had to be on a nice night, usually between semesters or some course holiday - no rain or cold temps. Of course booze had to be concealed - but that is part of the fun. Teetotalers could be just as loud and have just as much fun too.

Then if a panty raid, everyone - including the girlfriends in the crowd - would chant "panty raid". If not a panty raid, the chant might be "close Guantánamo" or something else deemed worth protesting. A few of the girls in the target dorm would toss stuff down to the crowd - maybe even a pair of panties or a bra. But it could be a wadded up McDonald's sack full of trash. Nothing heavy or dangerous was ever tossed out by the girls because they were in plain view with the dorm window opened.

Campus Security might "arrest" one or two if things seemed to be getting out of hand. "Mooning" the Security guys, then running, was the worst I ever saw. College students can usually outrun older people.

After 10 or 15 minutes, the partygoers would scatter as directed by Campus Security. Everybody would be in a great mood after that.

Everybody, except maybe Campus Security, always has fun. Ole Miss has always prided itself on being a fun school.
