Not particularly pleased nor displeased -- just surprised. Maybe this will give him more clout and confidence in working with the Dems and reining in the 'extreme' members of his own party. Or maybe not... My view is that anything and everything Obama might want will have to be fought hard the next two years. Partisan politics to continue. Sigh...
More here.

Well he violated that silly "majority out of the majority" rule and lightning didn't strike so maybe there's a chance for more of the same?

Yes, indeed. I was still "word smithing" my post above...

A good sign that the Tea Hatter power is diminishing, and the Republicans who can count are owning up to something other than the Party of NO.
Will be interesting to watch this develop.

Over the last couple of weeks, my respect for Boehner has grown. He apparently has a pair.
Folks like Boehner might keep the GOP from becoming a fringe party, and provide a realistic alternative to Democrats.

I love that some of the hardliners voted for Allen West: who got kicked out of the House by his constituents in the last election....

Boehner tears up again!! This guy is in the wrong profession, should've been an actor.

But then again, maybe he was crying about the fact that any sane person would vote for Allen West.

QUOTE (High_Sierra_Fan @ Jan. 03 2013, 12:11 pm)
QUOTE I think the window for Reid to do something about that is also closing after today. (both houses set the rules at the beginning of the Congressional term for the next two years). They recessed at the end of the day today, which somehow extends the legislative day into the next day they meet. (Don't ask me; I don't understand half the rules the Senate runs by.) I hear that, I follow the House and Senate on Twitter and some of the Tweets I just go, "Umm, whaaaa?"
