Well lets hope he does, after all he has been against sanctions on Iran, he has correctly pointed out that the Palestinians have been kept in chains, he correctly pointed out that the US is the bully in the world, and he's not pro Israel, why shouldn't he be confirmed?

Perhaps because he is an idiot
I firmly believe that the President should be able to pick his cabinet
But I really wish he would do a better job....these people represent America

Your suggesting that he has been a supporter of sanctions on Iran, feels that the Palestinians have been treated fairly, doesn't view the US as an aggressor in the world, and is pro Israel?

QUOTE Your suggesting that he has been a supporter of sanctions on Iran, Yes, Senator Hagel advocated multilateral sanctions that he believed would be more effective than the sanctions he voted against. His objective is the same, which is to halt Iran's nuclear program. Link
(Montecresto @ Feb. 01 2013, 8:46 am)
QUOTE feels that the Palestinians have been treated fairly, You've offered 2 options in regards to how Hagel "feels" about the Palestinians: that they have been kept in chains, and that they have been treated fairly. I doubt any person with an objective appreciation of the situation (including Hagel) subscribes to either of the simplistic options you've offered.
(Montecresto @ Feb. 01 2013, 8:46 am)
QUOTE doesn't view the US as an aggressor in the world, That sounds like another simplistic good guy - bad guy meme. No doubt you have a specific quote in mind, but I won't try to guess what it is. (if you do provide a quote, make sure it's Hagel's actual words).
(Montecresto @ Feb. 01 2013, 8:46 am)
QUOTE and is pro Israel? Yes, Senator Hagel has been consistent in supporting Israel's right to exist and to defend itself. I suspect your definition of "pro-Israel" means never criticizing Israel or the influence of AIPAC on US policy.

I suspect your definition of "pro-Israel" means never criticizing Israel or the influence of AIPAC on US policy. Clearly you listened to none of the testimony and grilling in his hearings yesterday. If so you would be aware of his words on these subjects.
And the Iranians are quite hopeful of his confirmation!!!
And republicans are pissed at him for his lack-lustre support for the Iraq war. That war mongering party doesn't like that.

Wow, Hagel actually said at the hearing that he opposes all sanctions on Iran, that he believes the Palestians have been kept "in chains," that the US is an "aggressor in the world," and that he is anti-Israel?
If those were his actual words, then by all means he should not be confirmed!!!
