That seems to go for all health proffesionals. I can't seem to get out of a doctors office without an offer of a script. Usually the side effects are worse than the symptom/problem. Doctors seem baffled by folk who want to adjust their lifestyle instead of taking pills.
As for the OP I would love to see how many of the gun grabbers would fight to curb the real problem instead of the feel good solutions they are ramming on us. My guess is not many.

Try a D.O. My experience with my doc (a D.O.) is that the last thing he wants is to give you drugs. It's all therapy this, and therapy that. And a lot of the "therapy" is OTC stuff that's cheap(er). He even sent me to the $20-a-visit acupuncturist college to cure an ache in my shoulder. The female interns there were lovely... But they eventually threw me out when they figured out I wasn't "sick" anymore. ;)

HOUSTON (AP) — Texas police often can't keep guns from the mentally ill because they don't have the authority under state law to seize a weapon from someone they are transporting for evaluation at a psychiatric treatment center.

Houston Police Chief Charles McClelland wants the Legislature to require a judge to decide if those who have been referred for mental health treatment are qualified to possess a gun. He's enlisted state Rep. Allen Fletcher, a Republican from Tomball who is drafting a bill to keep those firearms in a police property room until a judge decides it should be returned.

Right now, state law only allows police to keep weapons used in the commission of a crime.

"I'm not trying to take guns from citizens in this country, but there should be an additional judicial review," McClelland tells the Houston Chronicle (http://bit.ly/13yq8Fs ). "Someone, other than the police, should have to review that case or that incident requiring that mental evaluation, to tell me if this person is still qualified to own or carry a firearm" and get it back.

Gun owners,.....heck yeah....practically a requirement in Texas

I am a little concerned that the presumption seems to be guilt....at least in the description

Great, the gun nuts even defend having the mentally ill fully armed with concealed carry, and of course with large capacity magazines, as their motor skills may be impaired and they need many shooters to be sure they can hit a lot victims.

What a country!
