This forum is called The Political Arena, but be forewarned.  This is a politically incorrect topic.

I recently had occasion to drive from Texas into Oklahoma on I-35.  Years ago when I made this drive there was a large tent-like structure housing an “Indian Bingo” operation.  Today there is a HUGE “Indian Casino”, hotel, and entertainment complex there with LOTS of construction going on for further expansion.  Very impressive.  It's like a mini-Vegas.
LINK

Here’s the question.  What happens if during construction they stumble onto a “white man burial ground”?

Just asking.   :D

Say what?  How does the Book fo Mormon even remotely relate to the OP?  But OK, I'll play your silly game.

The Book of Mormon provides an account of two families of ancient Hebrews/Isrealites that migrated to the American continent around 600 BC.

I've never heard of ancient Hebrews being described as "white".  But if that is your preference, by my guest.

And BTW, there were LOTS of "Native Americans" already there when those two families arrived.  The Olmec and Mayan civilizations pre-date the arrival of these two families by thousands of years.

Okey dokey.  This was intended to be a joke thread, but it clearly failed.  Never mind.

Yes.  A "silly game," as it were.  I'm not disagreeing with you.

It's funny watching you feign offense to just about everything though.

You think I was offended?  MAYBE I was frustrated that a joke thread got turned into yet another discussion about my religion, but offended?  No.

According to Smith, when he found and translated the plates, they told of a lost tribe of Israel that migrated to the Americas many hundreds of years ago. These first Americans built a flourishing and advanced civilization, but one branch, the Lamanites, killed their righteous relatives, the Nephites. For this and their rejection of Christ's teachings, God cursed the Lamanites with dark skin and a degraded existence. The story maintained that the Lamanites would not regain white skin and a civilized way of life until they accepted Christ's teachings. Thus, the heavenly beings instructed Smith not only to restore the true Christian church, but also to bring salvation to Native Americans.

source

So, according to the Mormon religion, it would be entirely possible to find an "ancient white burial ground" in North America.

It would also be quite remarkable, as no anthropological evidence has ever been found to corroborate this teaching, and a great deal of effort has been made by the LDS church to do so.

It really wasn't my intent to offend you Ken, but you threw the pitch nice and slow, right over the plate.  No way was I going to just watch that one go by.  :D

Your source is SERIOUSLY flawed.

There was no "lost tribe of Isreal".  Indeed there was no "tribe" at all.  There were TWO families, Lehi with his wife and children and Ishmael with his wife and children, plus a single servant by the name of Zoram who chose to join them.  Nephi was one son of Lehi and Laman was another son.  ALL were Hebrews/Israelites.  I've never heard the term "white" used to describe ancient Israelites.  The rest of your cite is as flawed as the very first sentence.

And yes, these families intermarried with local people and thus Mormons believe many Native Americans are descendants of these two families and thus have Israelite blood.

It's amazing to me that folks who know less than nothing about the Mormon church try to preach "Mormon religion" on this forum.

You want "anthropological evidence" of the migration of TWO families 2600 years ago?  REALLY?!  Please.  As for your claim of the LDS church expending "a great deal of effort" to find such evidence, did you get that from the same source as your "lost tribe" chestnut?  FYI, this one's dead wrong also.

Better yet, let us discuss the practice of prostitution in towns that were settled by Mormon's. It wasn't unusual for those polygamist's wives to be happy to relegate their wifely duties to "hired hands." Utah consumes more then it's fair share of pornography, Idaho and Montana have a colorful history for commercial sex, but that corner of Deseret that harbors sin city, is as liberal about prostitution as the Netherlands.

Wow.  This has taken an interesting turn.  A joke thread about Indian casinos has turned into a discussion about "prostitution in towns that were settled by Mormon's."  Mormons originally settled LOTS of towns in the west, including ones in Canada and Mexico.  Las Vegas is but one.  If you think that modern Las Vegas is REMOTELY similar to the Las Vegas of the 19th century......well, I'll leave it there.  It's pointless to discuss if 21st century cities remained true to their 19th century origins, much less why.

BTW, do you know why the Mormons established so many towns north and south of Salt Lake?

Lol... "silly games" indeed.

Jokes about Indians?  Hmm, wonder if that was the OP.
Jokes about Mormons?  All over the thread since then.
Change in demeanor?  Readily apparent to anyone who can read.

You simply want others to answer pointless questions about slap-your-head obvious things, while you pretend to be stupid about it.  It's your obvious way of changing a subject.  You do that in nearly every thread, Ken.  I have more productive conversations with my kingergarten-aged children.  They actually follow a conversation rather than suddenly feigning amnesia.  "What?  Huh?  Whaddaya mean?"

Your behavior is about as opaque as an empty glass jar.  And not much more intelligent.

And the observation stands.  You love a politically incorrect joke thread, as long as it's not about your people.  Then suddenly it's tiresome and you're sick of it.  That's funny to watch.

...I recently had occasion to drive from Texas into Oklahoma on I-35.

Of course it's impressive.  It is funded by all the Texans flocking there (and New Mexico, ... and Louisiana) to have some fun and spend all their hard-earned money at the casino resorts.  I had to travel east on I-20 the Louisiana border (Marshall, TX?) and there was a line of TX cars going to the Shreveport casinos (mini-versions of the Vegas ones).  That was the Dallas area crowd.  Los Angeles and Phoenix  have similar lines of cars going to Las Vegas proper every weekend.

Actually with the last few years of excessive summer heat and West Nile ridden skeeters, I know quite a few well-heeled family and friends in TX and NM taking their hard-earned money to Vermont and Massachusetts, but if you can't be a "sunbird", then may as well have some weekend fun.

Most known white burial areas probably are demarked by paper map or GIS computer map coordinates.  Looking at the Natchez Trace, I stumbled on the years where the tribes were forcibly relocated into Oklahoma (Trail of Tears? -- not my specialty).  Doubt they would have preserved any white settlement, if any existed (remember the Anglo settlers were just settling into the interior deep South and Midwest at this time).

Actually, I wasn't joking about the Mormons, just pointing out that according to Mormon teachings, the early Native Americans WERE white, so finding an ancient white burial ground would (according to the Book of Mormon) be completely within reason.

It's sort of like in the move "Crimson Tide" where Gene Hackman tells Denzel Washington how great the Lipizzaner Stallions are...and that they are all white, and Washington replies "yes, but they're born black"

Gotta love the irony...

A good number of Cherokee are pretty sure they are the Lost Tribe and have a few artifacts and oral traditions to back up their claim.

Yes.  A "silly game," as it were.  I'm not disagreeing with you.

It's funny watching you feign offense to just about everything though.

feign offense?!!

You think I was offended?  MAYBE I was frustrated that a joke thread got turned into yet another discussion about my religion, but offended?  No.

You think there are no Natives here to be disappointed at a jab at their beliefs? Might want to think again. So how is this thread going for you?

ALL were Hebrews/Israelites.  I've never heard the term "white" used to describe ancient Israelites.

The people of the Middle East are Caucasians, otherwise termed "white".

Really?

The peoples of ancient Palestine including Israelites, Ninevites, Philistines, Assyrians, Persians, Babylonians, and even Egyptians were "white"?

If you say so.

Anthropologists recognize 3 racial groups based on skeletal types.
Caucasian, Athapascan (Asiatic) and Negroid/African.

QUOTE
Caucasian race (also Caucasoid)[1] is the general physical type of some or all of the populations of Europe, North Africa, the Horn of Africa, Western, Central and South Asia.[2] Historically, the term was used for many people from these regions, without regard necessarily to skin tone.[3]
