Along similar lines

But the right-wing not only don't pay any political price, they are rewarded over and over again when they
lie about it.  Its one of the issues they demagogue in order to get their base out in vote. Benghazi and the
fake IRS scandal are other issues they do the same thing with

The pay back, if does come, is more likely to come years down the road when people see in retrospect how
Republicans demonized the law and see how the law actually worked or as Nancy Pelosi said in the full quote
(not the one that is typically truncated by right-wingers) "But we have to pass the bill so you can find out
what is in it, away from the fog of controversy.

You know the misinformation about the ACA might be less if the Obama administration was better
at communicating what the ACA was about but I don't think it would have changed the overall public's
image of the ACA much from what we see today because I think the misinformation we see today about the
ACA is more a result of this huge mammoth right-wing echo machine that pumps out propaganda nonstop
(yet those on the right still tell us the media is "liberal")

The opposition to the ACA is very well funded. Sites like Generation Opportunity are staffed with a lot of very well paid marketing professionals who use sophisticated methods to mislead the public. They dole up with one little cute and catchy one-liner sound bite after another designed to mislead the public. From the site:
Raising the price of our healthcare in order to subsidize older, sicker, and wealthier generations of America will not fly.

Never mind that just a few months ago they were accusing the ACA of defunding Medicare ( the US health insurance welfare program for rich old people ).

The well-funded campaign is successful BECAUSE the best brains are being bought to come up with the most effective attacks and there is no limit on spending to get their deceptive messages out. Their main target market is younger Americans who have voted Democrat in the past. But their influence is growing.

You can fool all of the people some of the time.

And you can fool some of the people all of the time.

But, you can't fool all of the people, all of the time.

The chickens do come home to roost, always have.

Let's just hope that they come home before November, 2014

Called by Republicans, Health Insurers Deliver Unexpected Testimony

Hehehehe...

"WASHINGTON — House Republicans summoned a half-dozen health insurance executives to a hearing Wednesday envisioned as another forum for criticism of the Affordable Care Act. But insurers refused to go along with the plan, and surprised Republican critics of the law by undercutting some of their arguments against it.

Insurers, appearing before a panel of the Energy and Commerce Committee, testified that the law had not led to a government takeover of their industry, as some Republicans had predicted. Indeed, several insurers said their stock prices had increased in the last few years.

The executives also declined to endorse Republican predictions of a sharp increase in insurance premiums next year, saying they did not have enough data or experience to forecast prices. And they said they were already receiving federal subsidy payments intended to make insurance more affordable for low- and middle-income people...."

Maybe they'll join the IRS person in "Congress-jail"?

Good thing that the supporters of the ACA are not issuing deliberately misleading reports/statements like the opposition!
Or, even something as egregious as selectively ignoring (delaying) components to mask/delay negative effects.

More good news for the citizens of America, and a growing disaster for the Republican Party:

Three large U.S. insurers in prepared congressional testimony say that between 80% and 90% of their new customers who enrolled in health plans through the Affordable Care Act's health insurance exchanges have paid their first month's premiums, the New York Times reports.

Officials from Aetna, Health Care Service Corporation -- which operates Blue Cross Blue Shield plans in five states -- and WellPoint are scheduled to appear at a House Energy and Commerce Committee panel hearing Wednesday (Pear, New York Times, 5/6).

Aetna reported that 500,000 -- or about 80% -- of the more than 600,000 individuals who enrolled in the insurer's health plans through exchanges in 17 states had paid their first month's premium (Dupree, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, 5/6).

WellPoint reported that about 70% of customers who enrolled in its exchange plans between Oct. 1, 2013, and April 15 have paid their premiums. However, according to WellPoint executive Dennis Matheis, the proportion is higher among people who have passed their payment deadline, "ranging up to 90%, depending on the state" (New York Times, 5/6).

Health Care Services Corporation -- which offers health plans on exchanges in Illinois, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas -- said that among its exchange customers who had a payment date of Jan. 1, about 85% have paid. Meanwhile, about 90% of its ACA customers who had a payment date through April 30 have paid (Atlanta Journal-Constitution, 5/6).

It's irrelevant to ask how many have paid in cases where the payment deadline hasn't passed yet.  That's like claiming someone is behind on their mortgage, three weeks before the next monthly payment is even due.

Only after the first payment deadlines have passed do such questions become relevant at all, obviously.

Here is an admittedly anecdotal, totally unproven, undocumented piece of info....but, I thought it was interesting:

A lady in a group I  cycle with is a Director at BlueCross/BlueShield of Texas.  One of her primary tasks is to help coordinate the company's activities related to the ACA.

In between pedal strokes, I huffed "How is ObamaCare impacting BlueCross?".

She huffed back "Confusing and challenging....and making us money.".
