"Won't find a more spectacular area in the lower 48" ? Maybe, maybe not. I've spent a cumulative 6 months in Glacier, done most of the high peaks, alpine traverses.

I'd take a look at North Cascades NP before making a decision.

Bigger glaciers, sharper peaks. It's not on the national radar, probably because it isn't a "drive through" park, but rather a backpackers, mountaineer's park.

Gorgeous!! I was there this June for a conference in Whitefish, I regret not taking a few extra days to explore it. Spent a day driving through the park and doing some very short hikes. Took some nice photos but not NEARLY as nice as these!!
