i wonder if you can try that with pizza dough...then stuff the hole with a mozzerala string cheese stick...and then dip it in say...boboli pizza sauce..that comes in the little pouch.??

I would think pizza would work. In Scouts we use biscuit dough to make bread twists. I would think that you could combine the two ideas to make a pizza.

I tried this last weekend and it was a lot of fun (once we learned to be patient). We made the batter much more thick than the article recommends, with a lot less water so it was more like bread dough. Then we hand-formed the batter around the stick so it was about 1/4" thick. We didn't keep dipping it - just one layer of dough. The stick was about 1" diameter. It was delicious with the Krustez brand Honey Wheat "just add water" batter mix.
