Yeah, off topic...I love grilling and made myself a SS grill yet, use gas to grill @ home.

We were at a friends house months ago and a friend had Lodge sportsmens grill ~ cast iron~ he cooked us ribeyes to die for.... that lil grill habachi could rake coals to the edges of the grill or pile to add heat to where ever.  I played with it a few times since and fell in love with a heat> HOT/hot or with a coal door rake coal where you'd like that will allow cooking where you want.
cook wear to stay warm using 1/2 of what I'd use with the cast iron?
My G/F had one delivered.....Thanx Hon.

I have on of the Lodge sportsmen’s grills and you can indeed backpack with it.  You just need to put it in your buddies pack.  I love getting that cast iron grill smoking hot then throwing a steak on it.  Charred rare!

I love my cast iron items, but wouldn't think of taking them bping.  Among other cooking devices, I have this little one from Weber.  I like being able to adjust the heat with the side and top vents.

not sure why anyone would carry a grill into the back country, just build a fire to cook on when you get there.  Wood is plentiful and way better than charcoal.
