I've hiked the loop a couple times and I am amazed that I have seen little to no wildlife.

Surely it's out there. It's not like I am crunching through the woods Godzilla style.

The most I've seen are a few squirrels and birds!

It's just weird. I hike pretty quietly and it seems that this is the only place I am not regularly walking up on something.

Other palces I've walked up on tons of deer, within a few feet of a bear, sheep, rams, hogs! And loads of other things. These woods seem sterile or something.

Anyone have a clue?

Well, if I had to guess.

Topanga Canyon probably has wildlife that's gotten in the habit of avoiding people like a lot of semi-urban parks. They stay out of trouble that way.
