Those looking to be in backcountry in NM should have this fire link.  Things are heating up.

Just got back from a trip in the Pecos Wilderness last week. Just as we were hiking out, rangers informed us the the entire wilderness would be closed. That is indeed the case. As of June 7, the entire Pecos Wilderness is closed to even hiking.

The winter wasn't terrible in California but I'm getting a bad vibe on this fire season, the flows are down way too early even with the lower snowpack depth.

I've been checking inciweb.  The site is kinda slow but they have really good information, pics (sometimes), and estimated fire perimeters on google maps.

http://www.inciweb.org/

The latest fire, Jaroso, is located much deeper into the Pecos Wilderness than the Tres Lagunas fire.  Per the website, this fire is in a major blowdown area that really needed cleaning up anyways (funny how nature works sometimes).  I just hope it doesn't spread too far into the heart of the pecos - it's just west of Pecos Baldy right now.

Some santa feans just told me the FS are shutting the entire Santa fe forest down soon until further notice.  We had to reroute a Pecos trip to Latir peak.  Hope they can stop the jaraso fire.  Pecos baldy is a great first stop on a multiday adventure
