Hey everybody,
Im staying in Mammoth Lakes and have done a couple short backpacking trips down here. Been wanting to do a couple more, but the smoke here from the fires down south is making the air pretty nasty. Im thinking about heading up to Yosemite to do some backpacking.  Could anyone give me some suggested routes for like a 2-3 night backpacking trip that has access to some good fishing (streams and/or lakes)?I've never been to Yosemite before. Help me out!

Lyell Canyon has nice fish in it...would be a good day hike from Tuolumne Meadows.  In fact, most of the rivers have fish, outside of the Merced in the Valley, which is just fished to death.

Ten Lakes has fish in many of the lakes, Young Lakes, Nelson, Reymann, Bernice...

How far do you want to hike>?

Hey Balzaccom,
Thanks for the info! Ill look into it. I'm thinking about doing a 2-3 night trip traveling close to 10 miles a day. An do you have any idea how hard it would be to get a permit only a day in advance?

Thanks

If you are willing to take a less popular trailhead, and leave on a weekday, you should have no problems with a permit.  One idea, since you like to fish, is to go up Illilouette Canyon from Mono Meadows.  Hike up to where the trail joins the creek again, and you will find tons of 5-9 inch rainbows, hungry enough to hit anything.

Lower Ottoway Lake, in the evening, is an amazing place, with rainbows up to about 14 inches.

Smoke everywhere, right now... was in Sierra NF between the parks and the views were nonexistent, so instead of climbing stuff we fished.
