I am curious if any of you in Ohio have found decent places to hike around central Ohio. I have been to a few metro parks. Chestnut Ridge seems to be about the best in terms of distance and terrain (has some hills to go up and down), but it is still overall a very easy trail.

Is there anywhere that is not well-known that I can check out that may offer more challenging trails, and not groomed gravel or paved? Preferably something with some steeper grades? That might be a tall order in the middle of the state - Chestnut Ridge, as it is, is already close to an hours drive for me and doesn't offer the best conditions.

My goal is to find somewhere I can do some more routine hiking at so I can keep my legs working and in shape, without taking up a whole day in traveling there, hiking, and traveling back.

What part of central Ohio are you located? You mentioned that Chestnut Ridge is an hour's drive for you.
