I would like to find a good multi day backcountry loop hike in TN/KY avoiding the difficulty returning to car. I usually just go out and back but would prefer loop. Any ideas or recommendations would be helpful. I'm in iindiana so if there is any you would recommend in the general area let me know. The max distance I would like to drive is about 9 hours. Thanks

Big South Fork Rec Area, by all means. Huge area with lots of trail. Check out Charit Creek Lodge as part your itinerary.

That most people haven't heard of it is really what makes the place too. Having lived in the Blue Ridge, I'd rather go to BSF than the Smokies.

Big South Fork is very nice, and very popular.  You might see a lot of hikers.

If you have the time, check out Twin Arches at BSF -- an awesome formation!
