Just back a few days from a really great backpack in the Beartooths. We did Lady of the Lake-Lower Aero -Upper Aero-Rough-Skytop-Oly-Side trip to Impasse Falls-Dewey-Fossil-Fizzle-Out. Few bugs, nice wildflowers, easy stream crossings. Only rain was Wed afternoon and Thurs night, but it cleared up for the hike out. Mostly clear skys during the day, with distant haze, but the smoke blew in just about every day about 4:00. Big fires apparently in Idaho and Livingston MT. Still working on the photos, Ill post a full TR soon.

Looking forward to it.  I'm afraid smoke from fires is a given in the mountains during the summer in the "new west".

I put up a trip report, and some links to photos in the "Storytelling" section. Again, thanks to the folks who helped us with the route, and whose trip reports and photos we looked at: hikerjer, offtrail, dorf, SWT, pudgy groundhog, and everyone else. This forum is truly an amazing resource.

I always enjoy reading "how to" books about backpacking although I probably learn more on these forums than from books

It really is an amazing resource.
