I'm going to be in Abiquiú, NM, for a performance at their chamber music festival on Aug 3.

I thought that my wife was coming with me, but now she has other travel plans that week.

I will probably drive and plan to take a hike afterward on the way home. I'm a big fan of the Sangres and have a few different trips on my wishlist there, but I could probably be talked into the San Juans or some other destination not too far out of my way home. (I live in Kansas.)

I'm perfectly content to go solo, but also would enjoy hiking with one or more "friends" from here if it works out. Anyone possibly interested?

[ETA: I'm talking about probably a trip in the 3-6 day range. But just meeting up for a dayhike would be cool, too.]

I'll be in the southern San Juans (between Alamosa and Pagosa) during that time. Let me know if you'd like me to show you around up there. I can teach much about the local flora, as well, if you're into that kind of thing.

I *may* be interested.  Potentially.

I will have my kids with me then--ages 6 and 8--and if you didn't mind taking a kids-paced trip (low miles, nothing too terribly ambitious), we may be able to come on down for at least a few of those days.  If you're not interested in hiking with kids, no problem at all (completely understood), but it's just a thought.  :)  PM me if at all interested.  If not, no sweat.

Tempting -- but probably not realistic that I'd be able to pull it off. Just too much on the radar for August already.

Hold the phone--my wife's travel plans appear to be off, so she's probably coming with me after all.

Those that expressed interest, I'll touch base with you if plans change again, but it looks like this idea is off for now.

Just saw your post...I could definitely do a 3 day in the San Juans if your wife's plans fall through.

Heh...nah (maybe I should be).

I've just learned not to mix wife travel with BPing travel.

She might be game for a day hike, but we'll probably do that around Abiquiú, or in the Pecos Wilderness or somewhere a little more directly on the way home.
