This year's Allegheny 100 is June 7-9.  As always, it begins at 6:00 PM on Friday, June 7 and hikers have 50 hours to complete their section in order to meet the challenge. This is an unsupported backpacking challenge.

Donation this year is $40 and gets you membership to NCTA, a T-shirt and a shuttle ride from the end of your hike (where you will leave your car) back to the beginning of the hike for the start.

There are 25 mile, 50 mile, 75 mile and 100 mile options this year.  In the three years of the event, the 100 mile option has been completed 7 times.

This is the biggest fundraiser of the year for NCT in the ANF.  Come on out!

Feel free to post any questions here.

The 2013 A-100 is proving pretty popular with a LOT of pre-registration slots filled.  Get in on the fun.

Again, 25 mile, 50 mile, 75 mile and 100 mile challenges in 50 hours backpacking unsupported on the beautiful North Country Trail in the Allegheny National Forest.

Don't 100 pairs of boots on the trail in one day do a lot of damage to the trail, or are those 100 people hiking different sections?

Most challenge participants are actually hiking in trail runners which, believe it or not, makes a difference.
Also, people do drop off at different points.  Everyone will hike the southern 25 miles and it thins out considerably after that.
The trail, in some places, actually needs the traffic.  That is part of our goal: to raise awareness and create advocates.

Here is a link to the first 18 miles take from my Garmin.  All the "logs" marked on the trail were marked and sent to Keith and the trail Crew.  It was a good hike.
