Can't talk about it right now but the West Virginia book has become revitalized. I hope to have news on it in a couple of weeks. In the mean time I've started my second book: "The Mid-Atlantic Hiker's Guide: 30 Weekend Backpacking Trips in the George Washington-Jefferson National Forest, VA".
I searched through all of my photos and none are worthy to grace the cover of the book. Here's my idea of a good cover shoot:
Preferably portrait style although a really good landscape style might work as a wrap around photo, as long as the best part is on the front cover.
No winter shots. Late spring/summer would work if there is no haze. Needless to say an autumn shot would probably be better.
Photo has to be taken in the GW/J National Forest (NOt the WV part).
The photo can have backpackers in it but they have to have their backs to the camera or be willing to sign a release.
The photo has to be taken by you and you have to sign a release saying I can use it.
You have to be able to supply a high resolution file.
The prize: You'll be given credit in the book and will receive a free copy.

Hmm... I think all of my best photos would be from the trails around Wardensville. Sorry.

Big Schloss would work. It's on the border.

Very nice Gali. I know I talked you into going there for a reason. With cropping the summit block one might work as well. There is something about massive stone outcroppings that appeals to me. What do you think? Why don't you "run it through the process". The book is going to be 6X9.

#3 is the Tibbet Knob Overlook. It is also right on the WV/VA border. I'd like to see hi res versions of all three when you get the time.

I'm not sure I can compete with the likes of GaliWalker , but I'll take a look at what I have and see if there is anything that seems like it might qualify.

MR, I've sent you the three photos. I might already have portrait versions of the second two, which I didn't process from RAW. I'll look through my shots this evening.
