My wife & I plus another couple are heading to Green Ridge State Forest that weekend.

Car camping based around this idea

Currently just day hikes, drinking, and eating is all that is planned.

I know it was talked about that we should have another get together in May but thought I'd toss this out as a potential option.

Can't do that weekend there but have fun. My late father-in-law remembered there was a moonshine still in the 60's near the clearing by the shelter on this route. Meth cooker might be more likely these days.

that's a great location for a forum hang out tho...best car camping ive ever done was at green ridge (before someone got nailed by the rangers for underage drinking just cause he was within proximity of an old beer can)

It's tempting for sure, even though I think I've decided where I want to go next week.  Plus it sounds like it'll get slightly colder and I'm not sure I want to go to Green Ridge with that weather, what with the number of water crossings.

BTW, consider seeing if you can reach the top of Sideling Hill (the cut) from 144/scenic 40.  It's just under 4 miles round trip from a yellow gate.
