This has been sort of like giving birth to a baby. I just finished the final proofing and the formatting is nearly complete. The book should be available on or about May 1st.

This is not to be confused with book #2 but you have a good memory and are probably thinking of the one Gali shot for me. With the previous publisher the book had gotten so close to being printed they had that cover on Amazon for pre-sale advertising. I couldn't stand to look at it after they pulled the rug out from under me so I started fresh.

Can't wait to get my hands on this one. I was thinking of planning some West Virginia hikes soon...will just have to struggle for the next month and a half on my own...

Arfcomhkr, and i do a lot of variations on your hikes, maybe we can pick up some new ideas from this book.

I like the subtitle - it should attract a broad range of readers.
The older I get the shorter my adventures in the woods become. But now I'm out in the woods practically every weekend, either day hiking or for a one night backpacking trip of a few miles.
In my younger days I planned 7 to 10-day trips to more glamorous places, but those trips were usually months apart. And when I look at the pictures of those trips, I don't see much difference from the places I visit now, except for the higher ground views.
I think I discovered day hiking and weekend backpacking out of necessity, but I wish I had discovered it years ago. There were a lot of wasted Saturdays between those big trips.
Hopefully your book will help some people discover the joys of shorter more frequent wilderness adventures.

Very early or possibly even late April now. The print run will be complete 0n April 19. It will ship via UPS ground the following Monday if all goes well. It's coming from MA.

Oh, that's right. Once I get my copies I hope to have a series of book signings at all of the regional REI stores. I think there is one in Rockville.
