In our September 2013 issue, we asked guidebook writers, BACKPACKER field scouts, landscape photographers, and other local experts nationwide to rule on the sweetest backcountry vista in their corner of the union. The result? Fifty unforgettable views and a Top 10 list that will fill memory cards. We stand behind our choices, but no doubt you'll have your own favorites in your region. Think we got it wrong? Let us know by posting your own choice here (ideally with a photo)!

I would definitely have picked the Throne Room on Standing Stone Trail, Indian Wells or Gillespie Point on Mid State Trail, or Flat Rock on Tuscarora Trail over the A.T.'s Pinnacle for PA.

I would tend to agree with ki0eh. Was just up at the Pinnacle this past weekend, and the views continue to lessen a little bit more each year. As where once small trees along the face of the rocks are becoming larger each year.

And as for the Throne room here's two photo's I took there last summer

Kherrel, thanks for your efforts, but it seems the same places get the attention.

Pinnacle is over done, great hike, but the views on the Standing Stone and Mid State Trails far exceed the Pinnacle.

It would be nice if lesser-known trails got some much needed attention, and credit.

McCaffee's is a excellent choice for VA.  also is red creek canyon for WV...I wonder what red creek view it is?  possibly from Lion's Head?

WV

Spruce Knob overlooking Seneca Creek if you hit it at peak color in the fall.
Table Rock, same for the timing.

PA,

Pine Creek, as always, better in peak color.

Along the Foothills trail on the SC/NC border, Table Rock there also.

(Seems like a common name).  :p
