the last i heard, and from a very reliable source---is that beard cane probably will never be opened up again......

not sure about hatcher mountain, but what i heard is that along beard cane the damage from the tornado was so much and they wouldn't be able to clear it, along with regrade the trail......

factor that in with the low usage of that trail, and it makes it logical to not reopen the trail.....

i do hope they reopen it though---i'd like to stay at CS 11.......had plans to stay there before the tornado, and that fell through and now it's closed.....

Yea # 11 is also one that I wanted to revisit. Real nice site, right after the leaves have fallen & blanketed the ground.
I thought they would have made more progress since the tornado was in September 2011.
Rabbit creek & cooper road has reopened RIGHT???

yeah......

some of the other trails have gotten opened.....

but, from what i heard----beard cane got it the worse.....

basically, ran outta available manpower and funds to clear the trail.......

and it was the tornado from april of 11 that hit this area if memory serves me right...

also, that same summer---there was a wildfire along the beard cane trail basically in the same area.....
