wellll........forgot my camera for this trip so i dont have any pictures....

the weather was too nice not to get out this past weekend (think shorts and a tshirt kinda hiking) so off i went....

went up jenkins meadow trail in joyce kilmer..........a nice uphill climb to the intersection with haeo lead trail......

along the way----saw an insulator hanging in the tree.......guess it was for the old firetower that was up on the haoe.....

after getting to intersection, i doubled back to a campsite maybe 0.1 back down the trail.........had the only spring on the upper part of the trail so figured i'd spend the night here....

had plenty of firewood which made for a nice way to cook the filet.....

on sunday---slightly warmer, and on my way back out, i took the connector trail over to naked ground trail and down to the picnic area....

thought maybe the picnic area was closed as there was nobody there, but when i got to my car---didnt see any gate closed........

sat there for about minutes and finally saw the first car and people in the last 24 hours.....

did some exploring around by car in this area......mainly going up to maple springs overlook and check out trailheads up there....

from the overlook----could see a wildfire on one of the other ridges (down near tapoco)......

that's it for this past weekend...

looks like this upcoming weekend is going to be nice so heading back down to joyce kilmer to knock out some mileage.....

what did ya think of the route? you fall in love with that ridgeline yet? (betwixt The Bob and Haoe Peak?) ... i can't get enough of it and can't get any new ground covered in Slickrock because i keep going back to the same ridge. did you make it out to the bald?

I didnt get all the way up to tge haoe.....

Jenkins meadiw trail intersects haoe lead trail a couple of miles east of the haoe, and thats where i turned around and headed to a campsite by the spring along jenkins meadow trail......

Thinking of heading back up there this weekend......maybe do haoe lead trail to saddle tree......spend night.....come down deep creek.....

Or the route of windy gap....nichols cove.....spend night near ike branch trail.....come out ike branch to hangover lead north.....
