Returned late last night from 4 days on the ERL.

We expected low temps, even a fair chance of getting or arriving to see snow. What we didn't expect was a solid blanket of 6-8 inches! Anyway, the trip was challenging, but a good experience. I wouldn't have asked for the conditions, but glad to see the challenge present itself. Yesterday morning we woke up to 10 degree temps and frozen boots! Good thing we had an excellent fire. You guys who regularly hike in snow are tough! Lol.

It seems that most people we passed were going counter clockwise. Is there a reason for this?

After my legs and feet are beat from Athens fork, I like to finish with the relatively flat section of the little Missouri. Starting and finishing at Alberts pike I wouldn't want to hump up that last hill then down the other side to get to the rec area.

had a painful road trip through that snow storm... the drive took 15 hours rather than 10.

amen, snowpacking can be exhausting... only have a few of those under my belt, though.

Would have loved to see snow on ERL! Lots of snow here in Ontario. Back to Memphis Saturday!
