Well, I finally got around to doing the Cheaha loop Friday into Saturday with perfect weather. I started at the Adams Gap TH and went counter clockwise and camped at Cheaha falls. I gotta tell ya, the first day I was skeptical about this style of hiking you guys have..rocks!!!rocks and mo rocks!!!! :D. The views were spectacular on top of the rock garden which wasnt that bad of a climb at all and all the springs were full, so water was never an issue. When I started down the Chinabee trail I was becoming unofficially handicapped in the knees with no switchbacks and more rocks.......but....when I got to the bottom things started to change. The trail took on a different personality altogether, and I could begin to see why you guys love this place. Beyond Cheaha falls, this is some of the best hiking Ive done with some easy southern woods walking and tall order of solitude. Once you get down to the river around devils den, it really does rival anything in the mountains anywhere...good stuff. Yeah Ill be back :)

Glad you enjoyed it-definitely my local favorite for an overnighter, or a "training" day or night hike.
It'll let you know if you've got any footwear issues :)

Glad you liked it.  Personally, I like starting at Turnipseed and going CW. Up Chinnabee and down the Stairway feels better to me, but ymmv.
