stuff myself silly with lobster?  Flying into Augusta and heading out to Acadia.  We have all day to get there so small deviations can be done.  Looking for good "local" places to hit.  Are there any local distillaries out in that area.  A google turned up naught.

Can't help you on where to go up there.  I live south a ways.  But lobster prices are wayyyyy down.  At a campground lobster bake last weekend it was 20 bucks for 3 dinners.  If you can swing it, do a bake and get the softshells.  $3.29 a lb.  There is a glut and not enough processors to handle them.  So they are just about giving them away.

We just got back a few weeks ago. If you want a place with character, Thurstons in Bernard on MDI was good. There are plenty of places as you are drving through Trenton to reach MDI. We also bought 2 lobsters and cooked them at the CG (we stayed at Seawall).

Don't know if it's too late to help here, but I know the area well (had a house there for ten years and still vacation there).  If you want the best (most fun) route, take 17 out of Augusta down to Camden/Rockport.  Graffam Brothers in Camden has tremendous lobster (owned by a lobstering family).  On the water and gorgeous scenery.  Nice day hiking in the area, too (Megunticook Ridge, Mt Battie).  Then go up Rte 1 to get to MDI.
