I am posting this for a friend of mine and looking for suggestions.  Many thanks.

My eldest son graduates from high school this year, and for our summer vacation I know he wants to go somewhere where we can hike, see pretty scenery, etc.

We live in NJ now. I would like to go somewhere where the weather will be nice....Canada? We probably would want to stay in some sort of cabin or lodge and not actually camp.

We are all pretty fit but are none the less amateurs at this, so it would have to be someplace where there are reasonable day hikes, etc.

Consider the ADK Club lodge near Lake Palcid, NY.  They also have cabin tents.

You'll have more hiking trails right outside your door than you could do in a month.

Check out Shenandoah NP too, the cabins in the campgrounds are pretty nice (and have multiple bedrooms, if that's a consideration). The weather's usually pretty nice in June at the higher elevations.

Also, Allegany State Park has cabins from everything with wood stoves to modern 2-bedrooms.  Plenty of trails -  both official, unofficial, and just plain bushwhacking. Except for the occasional hot spell in the summer, days are warm, nights are cool.  Black flies gone by July.

If you should decide to go yo allegany then pm be - i can load you up with information.

Great suggestions!  He liked Adirondack Loj, but then decided he was looking for something out west and I think has settled on Curry Village in Yosemite.

Personally, I'll have to try Allegheny sometime.

Thanks for the responses.
