Funny that I could have gotten a ride, but still wouldn't have wanted to go, huh, Paul?

A friend offered to head up and let me borrow his brother's snowshoes. I just couldn't get my head around doing it. I just couldn't, knowing who else was going.

Looks like a boatload of fun.

Thinking of you while on me arse.

Funny, I was kind of put off by the bonfire you guys were bragging about...but now that I see it...yes very impressive.

Hey what kind of traction were you wearing there in the second group of shots??

And how did they work out??

yeah, it was a tiny fire I made in less then 5 minutes, out of green (downed) wood in the wet snow and ice..built it just to prove that it could be done. I'm not into making fires any more unless it is truely needed. BUT, I do know that I can get one going anytime anywhere. The picture with my feet, those are micro spikes I was wearing and I love them!! Perfect traction. So perfect in fact I was wondering why I dont wear them all year round...lol.

slept in that there lean to. Water was everywhere..Biscuit Brook was flowing and ice and ice bergs floating. Snow on Friday over ice..saturday was FOG and rain..lots of rain. No gear issues for me..Camper and Solo forgot rain pants so they were confined to the lean to all morning saturday. First time useing my new Northern Lites snowshoes..worked great and weigh nill..also got to use micro-spikes on saturday..boy do I love them, they are awesome. My Enigma 10 degree quilt is perfect and I slept on my Gossamer gear nightlight torso length pad, which I have been useing lately and loving. Though I did also use a thermarest Z Lite SOL pad, small size, which made it even more comfortable. I have not slept so well in years. I used my Katabatic Bristlecone bivy inside the leanto and that too was a pleasure. I'm telling you, I slept better then home in my bed. My Outdoor Research Mentor jacket performed flawlessly in the heavy rains. I have had it since last winter and this is the first backpacking trip that I actually needed it...Great jacket and worth EVERY penny spent on it. I also got to use my Borah gear down pants..wow..if you dont own a pair of down pants, I suggest you invest in a good pair ASAP!! I was able to pack everything into my ULA CDT pack and the total weight balls out food water snow gear and everything was 23 lbs. I LOVE THAT PACK!! That about wraps it up for me..like I said, everything worked perfect for me..from my shoes, socks, base layers, mid layers, shells, sleeping gear, hiking gear and pack. Took me a solid 4 years to get where I am, and I am satisfied 100%.

Joe, i have to say you were very well equiped n also made it a very easy trip for ya. You can never say you brought too much warmth on a winter trip. Gear up for the worst, you'll carry the most valuable ultra light smile in the group.

Yeah rain pants woukd have been nice. But since we were hiking out, n knowing the car has a nice heater, not a very dangerous move on our part. Besides if i had to fare a night out for any reason, a full dry set of clothes was on board at all times.... I also had my tarp which proved to be an asset covering the front of the lean-to.

SoLo was toasty in his -20f bag. I was very warm in my zero.

Yeah, down insulated parka n pants are worth their weight in gold!

Wish you were coming to Frost Valley this weekend.

Hey, maybe hairyman next week?

Solo... Adk wed next week?

Joe, pm your e-address?

BS.... Later suckah!
