Hey All,
I was hoping someone out there could help me out with some info. I have a trip planned to Baxter in august (was there last year and loved it!) with a buddy. We are going for five days:
roaring brook to Russell pond
Russell pond to Davis pond
Davis pond to Chimney pond
Chimney pond to Roaring brook

Here is my question..From Davis I planned on going to Hamlin peak then down to chimney. I have read that saddle is a preferred descent to chimney. Has anyone gone down via Hamlin? it seems more direct to me.

Has any one done this loop or something similar? would love to hear experiences!

I haven't been up there in a while, but I did something similar.  We stayed at Roaring Brook LT and then hiked to Pamola Peak the next day and back down.  The one route, I cannot remember which, was extremely steep and there were slide warnings.  The path we went down was steep but not too bad.  I don't know the names without checking my map, sorry.  Baxter is a beautiful place.
