I am thinking of a 5-15 day backpack in Washington or western B.C.. I have checked on backpack tours in BC & they are expensive. I average 7-11 miles per day. I am 42 and like to enjoy the trip instead of blasting through. I have found setting up base camps here and there and exploring side trails are fun.
I am looking at August 10th through September 20th as a time frame.
I am looking for backpacking companions and advice.
I am pretty flexible. Thanks!

The epic hike to put on your lifetime list is The Wonderland Trail around Mount Rainier.  I've done it both ways (clockwise/counterclockwise) and prefer starting at Longmire and going counter clockwise.  You need to have a detailed camp schedule that you are committed to, so it does take some pre-planning.  You have to get your permit request in early on.  I've been there at end of August and first part of Sept (preferred because of weather - none - flowers, and snow level). Next time I do it, will be in 3 sections taking a month each section.  Beautiful hike. 7-10 miles a day is a good leisurely pace with a chance to spend enough time in the huckle  berry fields.  One caution, it is up hill both ways.  Take plenty of batteries and 'sticks' for your camera PLUS a tripod if you want any good pictures on the north side.  DEEP forest and dark.  Find a book on Mt Rainier's fungi.

Olympic Peninsula is a grand place to spend time in August.

Take a section of the northern PCT (in August).

Make 3-5 days separate trips on the trails near, leading up to or around all of the major volcanoes.  For example Mt Hood has a pleasant walk around it - about 30 miles.  Mt Baker is spectacular.
