My eight year old has taken to sewing in a huge way and we were talking about stuff to do related to hiking and camping.


Has anyone seen a pattern for hipbelt pockets, (with zipper),  for a backpack?  It would thrill her to no end to know that Daddy has his map, compass and Cliff bar in reach thanks to her efforts.

I've never seen a pattern, but a bit of advice...

Have the zippers open to the front (close to back). My GoLite zippers are the opposite, and they open when twigs grab the zipper.

I don't have a pattern, but I have a favorite when it comes to hip belt pockets.  Love the design and size -- but not sure if it's too much for a young sewer just getting into the hobby...
