Just got my dividend and it is burning a hole in my pocket.  I have done a lot of research on these two packs and cannot make a decision.  I have had my last pack a Lowe Alpine for 12 years and I think it is time to upgrade.

I am a bigger guy  just over 6 foot and about 240.  Looking for a bag that can be used for 3-5 day trips.

H\Any help would greatly be aprreciated!  Or if there is another pack you may recommend.

You should go try them on in person with your gear. That is the best way to get your pack. They all fit differently.

Definitely try them on in person if possible.  I bought the Crestrail and it is a great, quality pack.  I wanted it to work for me because it had so many features that I loved.  Unfortunately the hip belt did not fit me right. I have not heard anyone else complain about it.  Backpacks are very personal, what fits one person might be uncomfortable to another.

The hip belts of both the Crestrail and Aether are new for this year.

You want to sell your REI pack since you're not 100% happy with it?

Thanks for the reply. I'll be heading over to REI soon (dividend smoldering in my pocket).
