I also am not a huge fan of the salty goo that the canned ones seem to have. Rinsing gets rid of that.

Ummm, "canned ones?"  *gasp*

Here's one on myself:

Many years ago, while teaching about instruments of the orchestra, I was talking about the woodwinds to 5th graders in preparation to my recruitmen for band.  I explained that the air column vibrates and exits out the hole that is the one closest to the mouth that is not closed by a finger.  As an example, I grabbed a recorder from the tray on the whiteboard.  I showed them that if they play their note "B" which is the easiest one (just thumb and 1 finger), the air vibrates and comes out the "A" hole.

Silence for about 5 seconds, as things didn't sound right.  Then one of the boys in the class figured it out and started laughing.  Never got control of that class again.  In a half hour, school was out, and I made a bee-line for my principal to give him a heads-up.  Jeremy had already told him about it!  We had a good laugh, as my principal at that time was an ex-band director.
