I've been watching preparations for this and hoping the guy succeeds safely. It's extreme, but it has implications for the space program if he can pull it off. NASA is watching. Best of luck.

So, yeah. The air is extremely thin up that high. As he falls, the air gets thicker and causes friction which will slow him down. Air density increases with decreasing altitude.

For those who have, do they have a good estimate of where he will land? They probably do, just wondering how close they can get.
I have not quite figured that out.
But, I believe they will have GPS coordinates of his location as he descends, and probably a helicopter in the air in his vicinity. He is almost at jump altitude and is about 40 miles away from launch location -- as best I can interpret the announcer.
