So far my wife and I have hiked in 6 states. Missouri (our home state -NE MO- with tons of day hikes), Illinois ( a few times), Wisconsin (3 trips), Michigan, Minnesota and Colorado. Except for Colorado we tend to go to the same general areas. Colorado was the exception and Calif was last year. Haven't ruled out Tenn or Ark yet this year. But, for now, it's 6. How about you?

2012 Calendar Year: New York, New Hampshire, and Colorado. Going back 12 months, add Wisconsin.
Add Pennsylvania if you count walking 3/4 mile between terminals at PHL.

Arizona. And it's all I need.
With elevations ranging from 70 feet to 12,633 feet every biozone in the U.S. is represented including tundra.
Don't need to leave the State at all, thanks.

Kansas & Arizona (does walking all over Downtown Chicago count?)
The beauty of Kansas is you can find anything you want within a short 1200 mi. radius.

2012?
Wisconsin, Iowa, Washington. I'm trying to remember properly, but I don't think we made it to Minnesota this year, and didn't get out for any hikes back east, unless you count wandering around Willamsburg, VA for a day.

I only hiked in two states this year - Colorado and Wyoming. Colorado alone can keep me busy hiking for a long, long time

If we are counting dayhikes of any length. . . CA AZ NM CO UT WY I think that's it.
Mostly I hike (and do everything else) in a state of confusion.
ETA: oh, yeah. And Hawaii. How could I forget--heck, we even hiked Hawaii in the dark in the rain.
Go back 12 months and we can add WA, though we might not have gotten beyond walks/runs in the park last Xmas.

Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. Almost got to add the District of Columbia to the list, but I think that'll have to wait until next year.
