No Rain, by Blind Melon. This song alsways makes me smile... which is funny, because the lyrics are horribly depressing.

Thats a good song, and didnt the lead singer of Blind Melon die like a year or 2 after that song hit the airwaves? Supposedly he was really good friends with Axl Rose.

I often suffer from mental block when thinking of certain songs that are among the best, make me smile, etc., because there are soooo many songs I've liked over the years. What I list right now will probably be replaced by a song I remember tomorrow that puts an even bigger smile on my face.....

But I just heard that late 90's song by the one hit wonder group "Cake" called "The Distance", and that song is pretty funny! Another late 90's song that makes me smile is "Steal My Sunshine" by "Len", which was another one hit wonder group. But I was just listening to "Haitian Divorce" by "Steely Dan" , which is a smiler, and a great guitar riff song too...

"Would" is soothing for me.  Really, I instantly relax with the first notes.

Alice in Chains is easy listening. :D

Been Caught Stealing by Jane's Addiction.  You can hear a dog barking in the beginning of the track, and my dog would always bark along.  That dog died 15 years ago, but the song always makes me think of him.

One of my all-time favorites... Rise, by Eddie Vedder (Into the Wild soundtrack). It's a pretty song, great lyrics that connect with me on a mental/spiritual level, and when I listen to the soundtrack it usually means I'm going hiking!

Thanks for the Guy Clark vote, I love everything by him.

But I'll offer up Del-n-the Boys.
