So last night on the way home from town, I spotted a mountain beaver. This is my second such sighting of a mountain beaver. Upon seeing the mountain beaver, my excitement surged within as I eagerly pursued to get closer.
I saw one crossing a forest road in front of me about 8-10 years ago in Olympic National Forest. It had a mouthful of greens it was busy carrying off to cache I presume. I had to look it up when we got back home as I wasn't familiar with them at the time.

While I have never sighted a grizzly in the wild, I feel kinda special having twice spotted a mountan beaver. But there is so much more out there to view and I hope to see as many different animals as I can.

How cool! I'm one of those folks who have also seen a mountain beaver; 2 to be exact. I lived in Oregon for 13 years and spent a lot of time hiking in the coast range. Somewhere in one of my boxes of old photos, I have a pic of one of those mountain beavers. I'll have to look for it one of these days.

Many moons ago someone reported seeing a beaver above treeline, near the base of the Mt. Washington summit cone. Not the same, but almost as neat as seeing a "living fossil".

The title of this thread reminded me of the backpacker porn movie script that monkeyboy started a few years ago. I recall that forum members, using their porn star aliases, were featured, and beavers were also mentioned in the script.
