Yeah, I noticed some (including mine) are there and others aren't. Are there two ways of making an avatar?  That might explain the discrepancy.  Mine is uploaded to BP and part of that endless list.

Though just to be obnoxious I will point out that as avatars do not, to the best of my knowledge, live in a money economy, they are certainly broke.  Some also seem to be broken :D

The missing avatars seem to be all linked in from Webshots. No doubt they will come back when Webshots kicks their server.

The next disaster. Put me in charge of this scat for 6 months, Bp. I will rule with an iron fist and straighten out the inadequacies.

Maybe not but it would be fun.

yep, webshots . . . The free hosting service has been discontinued in favor of their new pay model, so all of the old free accounts are dead.  They won't be returning.

Yep. mine was from Webshots and I chose not to continue there.  Once I pick a new host, and load all of my pics there, I will have an avatar again.  If someone can point me in the correct direction for the Tree of Souls, this will be easier.

Mostly, I just need to quit goofing off and get things done.

When I realized my own avatar was going away, I changed the note to mention it was under construction.

For those not aware of the option, one can turn avatars off in their Control Panel as I did from the time they were first allowed on this board.  Some members of any web board have a nature to select obnoxious animated forms  in order to annoy others.  Take control defeating that by turning them ALL OFF.

No irony, I'll elaborate.  I don't have anything against small pleasant graphic avatars but as noted rather annoying animated or obviously provocative avatars.   Such are of course much more common on other rather notorious web boards.

When the new software was loaded I selected one simply in order to be able to visually more easily see my posts which is a useful function.  Within a short time annoying and animated avatars predictably appeared so turned the visual off.   But the fact I didn't bother to delete my own reflects I don't have an issue generally with the avatar concept.

Ahhhh...webshots. That explains it. Nope, don't like them much. Never could get my photos downloaded after they announced the change. Not sure if I will bother with a web-based hosting site for my photos after that.
