Nope, and thanks to a few flurries, I didn't even get to enjoy a quick commute this morning.

We have no paid holidays between New Years Day and Memorial Day.  Boohoo for me :(

Between the holiday and the inauguration, someone's taxes (probably mine :) ) are gonna have to be raised to pay my salary for the day.

Hmmm..."for those of you who are working" by definition would be the people not getting a day off.

Personally, every day is a day off and every day I'm working...

I count days off more by whether the boys are in school than whether I go to work (which I'm not doing at all this month), since their schedule determines the time we have to get up.  So definitely a holiday.

IF I were working this month, I would have had the day off, without pay (I'm part-time.  No holiday pay, ever).

Meaning for those of you who are currently employed.   :;):

Interesting that just over half of ye workers don't get this day off...

None of the answers really fit me perfectly.

Campus is closed today, so technically I have the holiday.  Hardly anyone's here.  I'm paid salary though (not hourly) and had a lot to do plus a conference call I needed to take at 2pm today, so I came in and got some work done anyway.  So it's not "just like any other day", but at the same time I'm not getting paid any extra.

So I guess I'm just a sucker. :p  No sweat though.  Much of it (including the call) was organizing logistics for a return trip to Greenland this year.  I'm in charge of most the expedition planning this year, so it's not like I'm bitching about it; it's exciting.  As far as work goes, I could do a lot worse.

Yes, today was a paid day off AND sunny! Bonus! Well, it was sunny on the trail, at least.  We have the perpetual fog bank sitting in the Strait of Juan de Fuca right now, (and over our house) so we drove a little further out to go hiking.  Crispy, crunchy snow on the trail and sunlight flashing thru the moss covered vine maples...Now we return back to our regularly programed rain for the next 4 weeks...

Double time and a half for "holiday worked" tonight. 24/7 operation where I work, so the schedule never changes.

No today is Tuesday January 22, 2013.    Doubt it is a holiday for anyone else either.      :;):
