Sorry but this was a common occurrence that happens every day all over the world, not just here.
I know many don't like the comparison but I want to see the same immediate internet coverage when a drunk driver has a crash and/or kills someone. It's a simple fact that gunfire anywhere, even when no one gets killed, is an instant "OH MY GOD!" all over the net while a drunk someone who taking out a whole family barely rates the local news.

QUOTE Sorry but this was a common occurrence that happens every day all over the world, not just here. Not true. You're saying nowhere else on the planet do antagonists start arguing and whip out guns and start shooting at each other? You really need to contact all gang enforcement units and explain just why a bunch of Crips and Bloods had it out with guns.
It wouldn't have been an immediate worldwide internet sensation if the same 2 guys had started popping caps on each other 2 blocks over behind a bar. The location is the only thing that makes this net headline news.

But when you use words like "common occurrence that happens every day all over the world" - then that is absolutely untrue in great parts of the world.

Yes, it does happen in other places, but infrequently, much, much less often than in the US.
We rank right up there with countries that are in the midst of a civil war.

A common occurrence every day in the world does not mean it happens every day in every place but does somewhere at least once per day, occasionally even in places that anti-gunners hold up as paragons of a gun banned utopia.

Montana has already admitted that the entire rest of the world is comparable to the mass shooting in our good old US of A. And even there we probably win by a pretty wide margin.
What a country!

QUOTE (Ben2World @ Jan. 23 2013, 5:42 pm)
QUOTE school kids shoot up their schools with comparable frequency to what we've got here at home! Quote anywhere in that report where the 2 antagonists "shot up their school". The thread is about yet another shooting in our schools... But feel free to expand and tells us just where else in the world are shootings in schools and workplaces and shopping malls a common occurrence every day.
It's one thing to say that we as a society are willing to put up with these shootings for the sake of freedom to bear arms. That's a choice we make and the consequence we face.
But it is simply untrue -- and self delusional on your part -- that these kinds of shootings are common all over the world. If so, then there should be no shortage of daily or near-daily reports. Otherwise, how would YOU know? So, expand the killings and show me a month's worth! Wars and insurgencies excepted, of course, since wars and civil wars/unrests are not what we are talking about here.

QUOTE It was not a shooting IN school, it was a shooting outside school, even if on school grounds, and was specifically between 2 guys and not randomly shooting passersby although one was hit by a stray shot. This incident is nothing like some whackjob walking into a school and targeting multiple strangers. I said QUOTE It wouldn't have been an immediate worldwide internet sensation if the same 2 guys had started popping caps on each other 2 blocks over behind a bar. The location is the only thing that makes this net headline news. LW - you are self-delusional -- and I suspect intentionally so. No links from you... just more 'xplaining... End of our exchange.

Yep, our culture of ultra gun violence takes many forms, all of them resulting in dead human beings, and mostly young dead human beings.
If they could just limit themselves to shooting those of us over 65 yers old, the outcry would be much less. heh
