So, tonight I'm up at my parent's house shoveling their walk (yes, we finally have snow). I took my dog with me and she's romping around in the yard while I shovel. All of a sudden I hear this yelling and swearing from the neighbor's yard. While he's a nice guy, he was obvioulsy really mad. Turns out he was processing elk meat in his garage and went in the house for minute and left the garage door open. My dog noticed the open door and the meat. Need I say more except that I owe the guy $25 to $30 bucks for elk sausage.

At $25-$30, I bet your dog thinks it was totally worth it.

I hear it's quite good and at this point, sounds rather appealing to me. No, I have never tasted dog meat -- although truth be told, if one is already cooked up and served, I probably would give it a try. I can't ever imagine people cooking their own pets -- but stray dogs and such -- it's just as ugly and it hurts the dogs just as much as it hurts cows. And most of us aren't terribly concerned about the latter. Would be great if we cross path someday and share a meal and a beer. It's not too bad, best in stews and soups, needs to cook a long time to tenderize.

Beautiful golden beets and Brussels sprouts. Roasted or boiled golden yellow beets with parboiled Brussels sprouts, sauteed together in olive oil, shallots and thyme, and topped with toasted almonds.
Served as a side dish to braised hound, best with a good Merlot

Hikerjer:
$30 worth of elk sausage? That ought to be quite a bit of sausages, no? Surely your collier didn't consume all of them, right?
Give the leftovers a good wash, and get your children over to the next town and sell those "home crafted sausages". You might even rake in a profit!

She didn't consume them all, but she chewed them all up a pretty good bit. Tell you what though, Ben. You send me the postage and I'll send you the remains. Enjoy. Have you no shame?
