I think it's a cute thing for a young kid to have a campsite (indoors, rainy day?) with a tent. . . I made "tents" out of branches and stuff when I was a kid.  My parents had a wooded lot and we had "tents" everywhere.  

It would also make a good party prop indoors.  (Lame, but not like a fire hazard.)

Our cub scouts have one that has a fan, light and 'sil-nylon' like flames that move due to the fan.... looks a lot more 'realitic' than the blow up version - a bit of dry ice and it's really cool!
