Also the blue envelope was one of the favorite "toys" he received!  He wouldn't put it down!  

He wasn't sure about the chocolate cake, we ended up putting his pacifier in the frosting and that's pretty much all he ate.

Well, we figured the first birthday is special :)  And it wasn't that much work or money, actually - balloons, streamers, sign, and hats from Party City.  Plates/napkins/favors from Oriental Trading Post.  Cakes and cake pops courtesy my fabulous baker/Cousin Cherise and Aunt Shirley.

That was just like how it was on our grandson's first BD party.  He got a whole little cake just forhimself and had no idea what to do with it.  Mommy and Daddy helped him get his fingers into it but you could tell he really wasn't certain about the whole fingers in cake thing.  He seems to enjoy licking the frosting some, but he wasn't relaly used to that, either.  We adults loved it!!

I am really glad you are sharing these.  Your family has grown up here.  I remember when you and your hubby met and then married, now the first BD- Great sharing moment.

BTW, hubby looks great.

The last time I was in Yucaipa about 6-7 weeks ago I went biking up a bike trail not far from your office- trail started with LL- two names.  Great biking trail.  All work going up but coming down is lots of fun!!  Next time I get over that way maybe we can meet.

Yes, Loch Leven- that was it.  My son said we went about 2/3 of the way up on our bikes.  The ride down was just fun!

Also, it seems I recognized a few faces in your photos from our group hike when I was out there for cancer treatment.  That was a very good day for me- great moral boost.
