I've always told my wife that I want an illegal funeral--no embalming, just go bury me somewhere in the woods and let me fertilize some trees.

That said, it's got to be hard to see a friend fall to her death and have the body immediately swarmed and eaten by vultures.

Indeed.  It depends on the species, though.  Turkey vultures will take much less fresh meat, but black vultures prefer it fresher.  To the point that one might start its meal before you're technically dead.

We all get recycled when we die; it's just a matter of time.  Even Ted Williams, with his body in a tank of nitrogen, will eventually be recycled.  It's not as if you have a choice in the matter.

Worm poop, vulture poop, we all end up there eventually.  At least when you become worm poop the living have had a chance to release your body to the earth first, under their terms.

That is about 8 secs.  Might be long enough to get over the terror and become calm about it being the end.  Not sure there would be any pain involved with the impact, though.  I am pretty sure I would not want to be looking down, but towards anything but the rising rocks.

While the saddle option might appeal to many, I'm trying to think of a spice rub or marinade that might make that tough old flesh palatable. I doubt that any sage will be required in the mix.  :p

Antelope live on a diet of sage, and the best way to marinate their flesh is to soak it in beer and onions overnight in the fridge.  In DC's case, the flesh has already been soaked in beer, so I have no clue.
