I just purchased an new cycling jersey.  I have a penchant for yellow and my bike has yellow trim, so I bought a yellow jersey that has black accent stripes.  Now when I wear it my wife and children make loud buzzing sounds and make disparaging remarks about large stinging insects.  What should I do? :(  This has happened before.

Um, have you considered cellophane wings to go with the outfit?
How about black antennae?
You know, it's nice to have some sting left at your age.

Maybe I'm not helping much.

I think your wife and kids are trying to tell you something.

I tend to agree that bicycling outfits do look a little ridiculous, but who cares?

If you like it, then wear it.

It's not all bad....at least they noticed.....that's a good thing.

Back when I was a skinny triathlete I had a yellow one.  It had a little bit of black or some sort of pattern on it, but not much.  It looked cool to me and I never got any grief, but I never wore it in July...

Ahem. At your age, please don't... :p

On second thought...you could threaten to wear it with a kilt if the harassment doesn't cease.

Black antennae on the helmet would be cool...and noticed by cars and small children :D

Yellow is a good color for a jersey; bright yellow with reflective piping and/or patches.  It's good to be seen and noticed while traveling on roads on a bike.

Rumi

PS:  And antennae would be a great addition.

Visibility is what it's all about as far as I'm concerned.  I don't look great in neon yellow-green, but fashion is at the bottom of the list.

Antennae on the helmet are a nice thought.
