How many states have you backpacked (at least) one night in?

It's pretty scattered for me!

Just realized there are quite a few where I've camped and dayhiked, but never backpacked--though I just checked and find I have BPd in AZ--the Pariah hike ended there.  Too lazy to go fix my map.

I was surprised to realize I haven't backpacked in OR or NV--I've been through those states enoug!

And I guess I can't quite claim Hawaii, since we did make it out of the woods well before morning :D

I'm feeling "trip envy" right now :;):

I've only lived in two states--WA and OR, and backpacked in three--WA, OR, and CA.  But I'm coming out of a 7+ year dry spell where my previous job severely limited my ability to take any trips in the summer months.

Starting this year, I'm shooting for at least two weeks' worth of backpacking each year.  And for next year, I have my eyes on the Rockies.

Nevada kinda iffy, we went 1/2 mile in with backpacks and camped close to Wheeler Peak.  It is the least miles.  Oklahoma and New Mexico have the most miles.  Surprisingly, I think Kansas is 3rd.  Lots of Boy Scout miles at Quivera Scout Ranch, plus Elk City Lake Trail make up a lot of miles.  I even climbed Mount Sunflower (but it doesn't count, I didn't spend the night).

There's a lifetime of hiking in those states, and then some.

Here's my backpacking collection.  For dayhiking, I'm only missing a couple states.

I was backpacking in a catatonic state thru most of the '80's.  In fact I was a student at Catatonic State University and have the t-shirt to prove it. :)
