It's said that, one an average day, men spend 39.2 percent of their time in food preparation. Women spend 67.1 percent of their time. Source. (Page 28.)

That's a lot of time spent shopping, preparation and cleanup of meals. Most of that time is probably spent in the kitchen.

It just makes sense that there are a lot of picture taking opportunities in the kitchen. Prep, cooking and cleanup provide kitchen action and actions make great photo settings.

So, along this vein, I'm presenting the first kitchen action photo.

Feel free to add your kitchen/food/eating pictures.

That stat is beyond weird.   There is no way that I have ever spend 67% of my time on food prep, even when the kids were small and I prepared almost everything from scratch.

I would post a picture of my microwave in action but....why?

Since my wife only gets to watch me in "MY" kitchen, and she prefers it that way, I'd say from personal experience, it's guy's 100%.

But it's only on the Holidays that I even devote more than 10-20% to cooking

Those stats are flawed...

Kitchen Action Photo number two.

After marinading, draining and adding special secret seasonings, the almonds are put on an ordinary, non non-stick cookie sheet then shoved into the oven. After a sizzling 15 minutes at a nominally hot 325 degree oven, they set on top of the stove to finish roasting and cool down.

These are real time, real life pictures here, folks.

The premise of the thread has nothing to do with statistics. It's all about sharing some of your kitchen time with the rest of us.

Why? If your microwave has a carousel then you have the opportunity to capture a little kitchen action.

Yes. Rereading that page of the report, I agree with your interpretation of the numbers. My bad.

Perfect examples of Kitchen Action. Thanks!

And, yes, you get full credit for digging up the pictures on photobucket. (On a side note, I've given up posting linkable pictures on photobucket. The layout of photobucket is terrible. I've opened a second flickr account just for linking to photos.)

Cooking in action. That's it! Thanks.

I guess a double boiler isn't needed to soften caramel like one is needed for chocolate.

Great rendition of that song. I didn't now about the Memphis Memories sessions. I heard Leon Russell yesterday while playing some Delaney and Bonnie.

This isn't softening caramel, it is just bringing 6 tablespoons butter and 3 tablespoons brown sugar to a full roiling boil and then either setting it up in the fridge or pouring it over ice cream
