Hello everyone!

My name is Jared and I hail from the Natural State (Arkansas)!

Long time hiker, recent backpacker.  I am new to it, but I have a few small trips under my belt.  The longest trip being about 10 miles over two days.

I am a lover of all things outdoors, and trying to do my part to protect them! Large, rocky, snow capped mountains are my favorite things in the world! It is my dream to one day live in a city where I can wake up each morning and walk outside, to see beautiful mountains :)

Currently I am doing freelance work to fund my move out to the Pacific Northwest sometime next year!  Going to see about volunteering to repair and maintain some of the trails out there.

Seems like a great community here.  Hope to get to know you all better in the future!

It is a great community here.  And check out the trip report we just made in the Southwest section of this forum...five days across the crest of the Sierra Nevada...

Hi Jared. Welcome. How about those Ozarks! I spent an autumn down there and thought the place was pretty nice. Hope you stick around. We're a lot to put up with on occasion. But not so bad, otherwise.

Welcome to the forum. It is a good place and you can learn a lot.  Just a few crazies who will remain unnamed but you'll figure them out pretty quickly.  Any questions, just fire away.  There's a tremendous wealth of knowledge here.

Beets: They are alright

Brussle Sprouts: Not a huge fan, but I will eat jut about anything.

Beer:  I like a beer that you have to drink with a fork and a knife.  The thicker, the better!

Bacon: Is the food of the Gods!

Scotch:  Whiskey and Scotch are my favorite of the "hard" liquors!

Kilts: I have been known to wear one.  Even on a few hikes!

Hope that answers your questions!  :p

A kilted Viking, you may stay.

Many years ago, I lived in Bentonville and was living in Tulsa when I started backpacking in the mid-90s.  So, I am familiar with your part of the world.  Pretty and miserably hot in the summer!

I live in CO now.

Welcome.

Wow, there are some really bad typos in that post.  I can't blame them on fat fingered typing, sticky keys, or posting while tired or drunk.  Anyway, I hope you got the gist.
