The doggy in my Avatar, 14 year old Trixie, had a stroke during this RV trip we are on. I rushed her to the emergency vet in Idaho Falls, which was the nearest big town at the time  and had poor Trixie  put down.

She could barely move. The vet had to carry her in. As I expected, the last thing to go on Trixie was the waggly tail.

She had a very good Doggy life and she is now in Doggy Heaven.

Were continuing this trip with our other younger doggy, 8 year old RenoBoy Doggy that still has a lot of puppy left in him.

We started the trip in SSF, CA and on the way to Canada, going north of the great lakes and down to Toronto and then down to Gettysburg, PA and then to Wash DC and from there, who knows.

Right now, we are in Montana. This is the exact location.

Sorry.

Don & Tom, I am so sorry about your pal. It is hard to lose a beloved pet. I just lost my Patches (cat) last Friday. She was 18 years old. I DO feel your heartache and sadness.

I am so sorry to see this.

That said, I wish you all a safe and happy journey for the rest of the ride.  If you find yourself in DC with a day to kill, send me a pm a few days out and I might be able to help you get a good tour or two.

Woof! I'm sorry to hear this. She was a sweet looking dog.

Seldom a day passes that I don't think about our Buddy. His full name was Buddero Craze, hence my name here.

A House Dog's Grave

I've changed my ways a little; I cannot now Run with you in the evenings along the shore, Except in a kind of dream; and you, if you dream a moment, You see me there.

So leave awhile the paw-marks on the front door, Where I used to scratch to go out or in, And you'd soon open; leave on the kitchen floor, The marks of my drinking pan.

I cannot lie by your fire as I used to do, On the warm stone, Nor at the foot of your bed; No, all the nights through I lie alone.

But your kind thought has laid me less than six feet, Outside your window where firelight so often plays, And where you sit to read and, I fear, often grieving for me-- Every night your lamplight lies on my place.

You, man and woman, live so long, it is -- Hard to think of you ever dying. A little dog would get tired, living so long. I hope that when you are lying -- Under the ground like me your lives will appear -- As good and joyful as mine.

No, dears, that's too much hope; You are not so well cared for -- And never have known the passionate undivided -- Fidelities that I knew. Your minds are perhaps too active, too many-sided... But to me you were true.

You were never masters, but friends. I was your friend. I loved you well, and was loved. Deep love endures -- To the end and far past the end. If this is my end, I am not lonely. I am not afraid. I am still yours.

BTW, Custer's Last Stand was much larger and a lot more interesting than we expected. We just came back from there.

The thing about dogs is that they push you to be the very best person they think you are.

I guess that is why losing them is so hard on people.

So Don, dont think of Trixie as being gone but think of how much she blessed your lives.

The hike you went with her and me was the last long hike she has been on. Since then, I have been taking her on much easier and slower hikes, such as on level ground.

BTW, we just came back from Custer's Last Stand in Montana. Was MUCH larger and a lot more interesting than we expected. It covers several miles of ground and you can get detailed info. via cell phone at each point of interest.

Sheridan? That was halfway between my parents and my husbands parents on opposite sides of Wyoming. I love the Custer battlefield area too. The re-enactment in July can be quite interesting

My condolences on your loss.  But keep those memories of her fresh.  I've had dogs for most of my six decades and have buried five of them over that time.

I'm glad to hear that you believe your Trixie is in doggie heaven.  I'm guessing that doggie heaven is right next door to people heaven, with considerable overlap.  I sincerely hope that you will get to see her again.

We are now in the middle of South Dakota, in a place called Murdo.

We were in Deadwood, SD for a big part of the day.

We were in NW Wyoming earlier on this trip, but we avoided Yellowstone Park. You must be near or in Yellowstone Park. We have been in Yellowstone B4 this trip.
